Bridget Heos
Creative Writing Teacher
Hello, my name is Bridget Heos. I've had a few of your students before, and am looking forward to teaching them again. For those whose children are new to the class, I'll briefly introduce myself.
I'm primarily a children's book writer. I write young adult nonfiction, and just got the opportunity to visit a scientist who makes spider silk through goat milk and silkworms. He was recently featured on NOVA for his efforts to manufacture this potentially life-saving fiber. On the other side of the coin, I write picture books.
This semester, the theme will be how words and images work together. As a writer, I'm partial to words (which keep me, for the most part, gainfully employed.) But I think that in this digital age, images will become more and more part of the storytelling equation.
We're starting with a picture book unit, followed by advertising and script writing.
I look forward to a fun and thought-provoking semester!
