Educational Background:
B.A. in Art Education; B.A. in Education (University of Northern Iowa-Cedar Falls)

Shirley Laird started her teaching career at her alma mater in Storm Lake, Iowa in 1974. She has taught studio art to all levels from kindergarten through adult education classes.

Shirley started teaching at St. Paul's in 1982 and cannot imagine being anywhere else. A major event that Shirley helps with is the annual K-8th grade spring art show-this is a labor of love and it is so exciting to see what the children create each year-(be sure to mark your calendars now!)

Shirley has been published multiple times in the magazine "Arts and Activities" and has also been a presenter for Missouri Art Education Conferences. She is the editor of the school yearbook and resident photographer. These additional duties, along with the sets, props and much of the costuming for the 7th and 8th grade musical, certainly keep her busy.

Shirley's latest interest is a granddaughter that comes over to play frequently-she highly recommends spoiling grandchildren!
