Committees

Below you will find descriptions of the various Parents' Guild committees. As you can see, there's a little something for everyone! Click here to sign up. If you have questions, please contact Britton Norden () or Luci Powell ( ).

ABC Sale: Chairs - Kelly Groebl ( ), Jessica Kerrigan ( ), Jen Martin
The ABC Sale will be October 20-22 this year; set up for the sale and donation sorting will take place October 16-19. It is a 3-day sale open to the public that provides the opportunity to purchase gently used clothes, household goods and toys at a low price. The ABC Sale is one of the community outreach events that the Parents' Guild hosts in conjunction with St. Paul’s Church. Volunteers are needed to set up, chair departments, sort donations and break down the sale. You can sign up for a single shift or help out all week--it's a fun and social way to help the school and community.

Auction: Chairs - Amy Holewinski ( ), Sarah Telford ( )
The Parents’ Guild annual auction is held in the spring and is the school’s biggest fundraising event. There are many opportunities to be involved - a job can be found for anyone who wants to help, including decorations, solicitations, catalog preparation, and more!

Book Fair: Chairs - Betsy Fountain ( ), Ann Long ( )
St. Paul's hosts two book fairs per school year. The big one is in the fall (November 7-9) and includes all grades. A smaller book fair happens in the spring and is for 5th-8th graders. The Book Fair committee works with the school and the Reading Reptile book store to put these events together. Organization, a bit of creativity and a solid week of time are required for the chairs. Other than chairing the event, cashiers, helpers and bakers are the main volunteer needs.

Bring-It Brigade: Chair - Courtney Angilan ()
OK, so maybe the name is a little kitschy but it reflects what this successful committee (new last year) has become: a resource for manpower and supplies. This is a very flexible, help-when-you-can committee. The Brigade chairs will be notified when volunteers or supplies are needed at school events like the Book Fair, ABC Sale, Auction, etc., and will then send out an email request to this committee. Respond when it works for you, no worries when it doesn't. We hope that this flexible system will allow everyone to help contribute as it best fits their schedule.

Buddy Run/Walk: Chair - Ashley Pindell ( )
We are so excited to announce our 2nd Annual Buddy Run/Walk on Friday, October 14th! Buddies will meet each other on the upper field after All School Chapel and run/walk the course on school grounds. St. Paul’s Buddies are a wonderful part of the St. Paul’s community and this FUNdraiser helps promote health, happiness and friendship while raising money for St. Paul’s. All students will participate in the Buddy Run/Walk and they’ll have opportunities to help raise money with sponsorships. We hope you will support the Buddy Run/Walk by registering your children and sponsoring the event. Visit our online registration site today. We promise to make it a wonderful and FUN experience for our St. Paul’s community. Volunteers will encourage walkers/runners along the course, help with set-up and break down, manage refreshments, and more.

Care and Concern: Chairs - Tess Hawes ( ), Melinda Sih ( )
One of St. Paul's greatest strengths is its wonderful sense of community. This committee supports families in times of need through meals, carpooling, play dates, etc. We hope that parents will communicate to this group when they learn of a specific need of a St. Paul’s family. Volunteers prepare food, write notes, and help organize assistance to families.

Cultural Arts: Chairs - Beth Chu ( ), Patricia Shackelford ( )
Each division of the school has several cultural arts activities throughout the year that are funded by the Parents’ Guild. These programs draw from the city’s arts community. Volunteer opportunities may arise throughout the year via the Bring It Brigade.

Family Fun Fest: Chairs - Brittany Harris ( ), Kelly Groebl ( ), Amy Moore ( )
September 16, 2011 is the date for this event. The FFF is a carnival that the kids LOVE. Volunteers are needed the week of the event for set up and clean up after the event. All parents are asked to work a shift at the Family Fun Fest. The parent shifts will be coordinated though the Room Parents in September. This is an easy, "one and done" way to help.

Hospitality: Chairs - Pauline Henne ()
The Hospitality Committee hosts events throughout the year, including Open House and the Teacher Retirement Reception at the end of the year (if applicable), and provides refreshments at Holiday programs. Volunteers are needed to help bake for, set up and staff these events.

Library/Parent Book Club: Chairs - Jenny Murphy (), Blythe Robertson ( )
Library Committee is a fun, easy committee. It consists of volunteers from K - 5th Grade. Volunteers help during their child's class time in the library, usually one time per month. Responsibilities include shelving and checking in and out books from the library. The Parent Book Club also falls under the Library Committee.

School Spirit Sales: Chair - Casey Simmons ( )
The Parents’ Guild sells a variety of items with the St. Paul’s logo. Volunteers are needed to help sell this apparel at different functions throughout the year.

Staff Appreciation: Chairs - Melissa Carnes ( ), Kama Moseley ( )
The purpose of this committee is show staff and teachers that they are valued and appreciated. Volunteers are needed to help put together and host several staff appreciation events throughout the year.
