Co-Curricular Activities
Co-curricular activities supplement our core curriculum to engage students and enhance the learning experience. These activities encourage students to excercise their creativity, develop life skills and grow in a variety of different ways.
Art Show: The K-8th grade art show will be on April 25th from 3:30 - 7:30 p.m. All students will be represented by at least five pieces of art work. Close to 4,000 pieces were displayed last year!
Buddy Program: The Buddy Program focuses on building our school community by developing caring, trusting friendships and the sharing of learning experiences between older and younger students. Older students have opportunities to be valued helpers, teachers, and friends. Younger students benefit from having a role model that gives special one-to-one attention and kindness. Together, buddies read, write stories, have lunch, play games, attend chapel and have fun.
Chapel Program: Spiritual development and life skills are promoted by teaching children basic Christian values through the stories of our Christian faith from the Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament, and by involving them in the experience of Christian worship and the celebration of the seasons of the Christian church year. Chapel service is held each morning in each division's commons area. All-School chapel service is held in the church sanctuary on Fridays at 8:30 a.m. Parents are always welcome to attend.
Cultural Arts Program:Thanks to the efforts of the Parents' Guild, the students at St. Paul’s get to experience fun and educational performances on and off campus. To name a few, Paul Messner Puppets, The Nutcracker, Dickinson Carolers, The Kansas City Zoo, Alvin Ailey and Kansas City Young Audiences (KCYA), have all provided culturally rich experiences for the students at St. Paul’s.
Earth Week: For a full week in the spring, Intermediate students (grades 3-5) participate in a variety of environmental awareness activities. Mixed-grade teams complete experiments and creative arts projects related to Earth Week.
Field Days: Divisional field days are scheduled once a year during the school day to offer all students challenging games and cooperative activities organized by the Athletic Directors. Field Days focus on athletic activities and are usually held during the month of May. Seventh and eighth grade students direct activities for younger children the with help of the teachers. Parents and friends are invited to attend.
Integrated Thematic Units: From Ocean/Life and Space Exploration in the Early Childhood Center, to the Rainforest and Westward Expansion in the Lower School, to the Medieval Fair and World Culture Night in the Middle School, integrated thematic units are offered in all grade levels. These much-loved lessons allow the children to learn important concepts and skills in all content areas through the use of engaging, hands-on projects and activities. Each thematic unit has a culminating event for students to demonstrate and showcase their work for friends and family.
Science Fun Day: This day, held annually, provides a full day of "hands on" science experiences for the Early Childhood, 1st and 2nd grade students. Parents are invited to participate.
