Gathering Food Pantry Donations

Community Outreach

Part of the St. Paul's mission is to actively strive to connect our school community to the broader world by providing service opportunities.

Fall Food Drive for the St. Paul's food pantry: This drive is the largest of the year, where we typically collect around 10,000 items over a ten day period!  Sponsored by the Student Council

Monthly "Feed the Need" Fridays: Students bring pantry contributions to chapel, based on current food pantry needs. Sponsored by the Student Council

Spring Dodgeball Tournament: Every spring middle school students donate money to play on a team or watch the Dodgeball Tournament. The winning student team plays the faculty. Last year this event raised around $300 for our sister school in Haiti. Sponsored by the Student Council

Student Council Year-round Activities: The Student Council sells drinks on Friday, sells snacks in Middle School and participates in the box top program. These events benefit our school, community organization and our sister school in Haiti. Sponsored by the Student Council

Fundraiser for HaitiSpring School-wide Haiti drive. This is to support the church sponsored school in Ravine a'Lanse, Haiti which currently serves approximately 280 students. ECC students receive a daily offering in their divisional chapel, often consisting of pennies, nickels and dimes. The remainder of the school participates in our spring drive by hosting lemonade stands, bake sales, doing chores for change or donating the proceeds from raking a neighbor's yard or an evening of babysitting. This year we raised $11,700 which will fully fund the hot lunch program at the school.

Service Club: This is a K-8th grade offering for students and their parents, meeting approxmately seven times per year on the last Tuesday of the month from 3:30-5:30 pm. Activities range from on-campus service projects (assisting the food pantry or helping teachers in classrooms) or off-site activities such as Harvesters, Grand Avenue Temple's homeless program or gardening at a local park or agency.

Pocket ParkPocket Park: In the spring of 2010, St. Paul's School established a neighborhood park through Front Porch Alliance. An empty lot was provided which then needed to be prepped to make a safe environment for children. Once the extensive clean-up was accomplished, a beautiful swingset was built onsight along with landscaping. The school intends to make one or two visits per year to assist with the maintenance of the park.

Presidential Volunteer Awards: St. Paul's has participated in this national program for ten years. For each of these years we have been a "School of Service" by having at least 5% of our student body offering 50 hours or more of community service. This year we had over 20 students achieve the 50 hour designation.
