Students Receive Gold and Bronze Medals in National Spanish Exam

Even though it's officially summer vacation, we couldn't get too far removed from the school year without celebrating a few recent student achievements. Every year, St. Paul's 8th graders take the National Spanish Exam through the AATSP (American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese). This national test is also a competition, and more than 55,000 students participate at various levels every year. St. Paul's is a member of the Missouri chapter, and our students recently took the Level 1 exam with more than 250 other students across the state.

This year, three St. Paul's students (Sophie T., Truman L., and Eli S.) placed in the 75th - 84th percentile nationally and earned a bronze medal.

In addition, two students not only received a gold medal (placing above the 95th percentile), but they also took 1st and 2nd place in the state of Missouri! Annabelle M. took 1st place with a score in the 98th percentile and received a check for $40. Nora R. took 2nd place with a score in the 96th percentile and received a check for $35. Both students got a perfect score on the Reading and Listening Exam.

Mr. Ward, our Middle School Spanish Teacher, said it best recently; we are "incredibly proud of all of them!"

Five St. Paul's students received bronze and gold medals in the 2021 National Spanish Exam.
