Parents' Guild

The annual St. Paul's auction is the school's largest annual fundraising event. Parents, grandparents, church members, faculty, and staff gather to support the school at this fun and festive event. Guild committees include: silent auction, live auction, decorations, setup, sponsorships, auction gathering party and more.

Students and families are invited to celebrate the start of the school year at the annual St. Paul's Carnival! This event features, food trucks, games, bounce houses, and the ever-popular Cakes for Haiti.

Thursday, September 11: 5pm - 7pm

Each fall, the Parents' Guild organizes an on-site book fair where school and church spaces are transformed into a Literati bookstore. All event proceeds benefit the school library. Book Fair week also features special literacy-themed programming including visits from authors, buddy partner reading, and story time with the school librarian.

Tuesday, November 11 - Book Fair Family Night, 3:30 - 6pm

Room parents are an important part of the communication fabric of St. Paul's. In addition to serving as the liaison between teachers and parents in each grade, they typically plan a few parent social gatherings and coordinate holiday classroom parties. In middle school, room parents help find volunteers for field trips and class events that require additional parent involvement.

Parents' Guild members create opportunities for middle school students to understand and serve wider Kansas City community needs. Local non-profit leaders are invited to speak to students and explain their organizations' efforts and tell students how they can get involved. 

This committee reaches out to St. Paul's families who may need a little extra support when significant life circumstances change. Volunteers may coordinate meal delivery or school carpool for a family in need, communicate the birth of a new child, or share the sad news of the loss of a loved one.

Students in Kindergarten through fifth grade visit the library once a week. During class visits, parents help check books in/out and re-shelf books. 

St. Paul's Episcopal Day School is a vibrant part of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church community, and the church liaison facilitates communication and coordination of school and church events. 

Parents' Guild members oversee a back-to-school lunch for staff in August, special treats for teachers during conference days, and they recognize teachers with gifts during Teacher Appreciation Week.

This group of St. Paul's dads organize some key community events throughout the year, including a Back-to-School barbecue, Donuts with Dads, and more.

The New Families committee works closely with the Admissions staff to provide a warm welcome to families joining St. Paul’s.  They coordinate Buddy Families which matches current families with a new family in the same grade as well as help host a new family summer welcome. 

This committee is responsible for organizing parent parties throughout the school year to help our community connect and engage with each other. Typically, these events are focused on grade level activities. They will also be responsible for overseeing the Grade Level Sign-Up parties for the Auction in the spring. Examples include: ladies pickle ball night, happy hours, dinners and gatherings at local restaurants.

Yes, all current parents at St. Paul’s pay PG dues every year. As members of the Parents’ Guild, we ask all parents to consider volunteering throughout the school year at school events, on various committees, or in their child’s classroom. We also ask parents to attend quarterly Parents’ Guild meetings and to vote every year to confirm PG executive leadership.

The amount raised and how it's utilized varies from year to year, but in general, Parents' Guild dues and fundraising go toward planning community, supporting the school's mission, and addressing changing needs. For example, below is a breakdown of how Parents' Guild supported the school in 2025:

• $399,500 - Fund-a-Need; this money supported a parent-chosen initiative (in 2025, the initiative focused on adding additional parking).
• $150,000 - this money supported the school's annual operating budget.
• $6,000 - Good Samaritan Fund; this money helped families in times of need, bridges financial gaps, and supports student therapies and other essential resources
• $10,000 - this money remained in the Parents' Guild account to support community events.
